Military Officials Have Not Released Name of Soldier Suspected of On-Base Murder of His Wife

Fort Campbell, KY – A Fort Campbell Soldier was apprehended early Saturday morning after a pursuit by Georgia State Police. The Soldier was wanted for questioning in connection with the death of his spouse earlier that evening.
According to a statement released by the Georgia State Police, the Soldier sustained an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound, was apprehended and transported to a regional hospital. He is currently in critical condition.
Earlier Friday evening, the Fort Campbell Military Police responded to an alleged domestic dispute in on-post housing. Upon arrival, Military Police discovered a gunshot victim who was determined to be deceased and later identified as the Soldier’s spouse. The spouse was transported to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital where she was confirmed to be deceased.
The death of the military spouse is under investigation by Special Agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. Army CID is also working closely with other civilian law enforcement agencies in regard to this investigation.
The names of the Soldier and the deceased spouse are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. No further information is being released at this time to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
