Cause under investigation; name, location of death not released

An Air Force member who was based at Fort Meade has been found dead, officials said Friday.

The airman, whom officials did not name, was found Wednesday at a hotel.

The cause of death is under investigation.

The airman had been away from the Army base in Anne Arundel County on leave or temporary duty, officials said.

They did not release the location of the hotel.

Moody Releases Details on Death of Airman

ALBANY, GA (WALB) — Moody AFB Airman Jordan C. Bordelon died Saturday in Lowndes County, an apparent suicide. Bordelon was 22.

Officials at Moody released this statement on the tragic incident Monday morning–

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. – A senior airman assigned to the 823d Base Defense Squadron, part of the 93d Air Ground Operations Wing, at Moody Air Force Base was pronounced dead early Saturday morning, Oct. 27, 2012.

“The 93d Air Ground Operations Wing and Moody family are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own,” said Col. Samuel Milam, 93d Air Ground Operations Wing commander, of Senior Airman Jordan C. Senior Airman Jordan C. Bordelon was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his Valdosta, Ga. apartment complex, and was immediately transported by emergency responders to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

Airman Bordelon was pronounced dead while being transported by ambulance to Tallahassee for further medical treatment, and was then returned to Valdosta.

Airman Bordelon, 22, was a security forces journeyman with the 823 BDS.

“The 93d Air Ground Operations Wing and Moody family are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own,” said Col. Samuel Milam, 93d Air Ground Operations Wing commander. “Our most heartfelt sympathies are with Airman Bordelon’s family and loved ones during this very difficult time.”
